A bag for the return journey

My long-term experience of studying abroad has led me to reflect on the relationship between “home” and “journey.” Every time we leave our hometown, we pack our luggage, and the suitcase thus becomes the most important companion of a traveler. Hidden inside the luggage, the house key symbolizes another side of the journey: no matter how far you go, it reminds you that one day, you will return home. Based on this experience, I designed a special key case. Its form is inspired by paper figures holding hands, and users can cut out the facial features of each figure, so that every small person represents a member of their family. This design carries a unique metaphor: •When the key case is closed, it appears as a solitary figure, symbolizing your lone journey away from home. •When the key case is opened, countless hand-in-hand figures unfold, symbolizing reunion and togetherness with your family. Thus, the key case is no longer merely a functional object, but becomes an emotional symbol: it embodies the dual states of departure and return, and re-expresses the concept of “home” in a tangible, tactile form.

“Parallel Worlds App”

In the digital age, our identities are constantly shaped and solidified by invisible algorithms. Whether through recommendation systems, targeted ads, or social media labeling, we find ourselves trapped within increasingly narrow self-portraits—as if “who you are” can only be defined by accumulated data. Over time, technology has quietly altered our relationship with ourselves: we have become prisoners of our own data shadows. The Parallel World App emerges as a reflection and rebellion against this predicament. Each day, it automatically alters your user profile and preference settings, generating an alternate self existing in a “parallel world.” Today you might be a middle-aged gardening enthusiast; tomorrow, a rock-obsessed youth; the day after, a niche researcher fascinated by obscure philosophy. This daily “identity oscillation” allows us to break free from singular trajectories in the digital realm, experiencing diverse worlds previously blocked by algorithms. It doesn't ask you to abandon your self, but to remember: the self is never singular—it's woven from countless possibilities.
The apps on your phone are part of who you are, but what if one day you wake up to find the accounts within those apps belong to someone else?
